By accessing or using these data, you agree to the following conditions:

1. Except as otherwise expressly stated herein, the information, records, or images in these databases may not be reproduced, distributed, or publicly displayed, in whole or in part, without the express written permission of the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH).

2. AMNH does not grant permission for anyone to use, download, reproduce, publicly display, distribute, or reprint all or substantially all of the information, records, or images in the database.

3. Subsets of the information, records, or images in the database may be used, downloaded, reproduced, publicly displayed, distributed, or reprinted strictly for educational, scientific, scholarly, and other non-profit uses provided that AMNH is appropriately cited as the source of the information.

4. Subsets of the records from the database downloaded for use with data from other data sets must be clearly identified by the attribution "AMNH."

5. Data are provided to individual users with the understanding that said data will not be passed on to third parties or redistributed, except with approval from AMNH.

6. Use of the data contained in this database is entirely at your own risk. The American Museum of Natural History makes no warranty, either express or implied, regarding the completeness, accuracy, or currency of the information in the databases or its suitability for any particular purpose. Where the use of this data is critical to scientific investigation, scholarly publication, or policy decisions, the user is responsible for verifying identities and provenance against specimens and other primary data sources.

7. These materials are provided "as is" for informational purposes only. AMNH is not responsible for the consequences of reliance on any information contained in the database, and the risk of injury rests entirely with the user.

8. Information in the database must not be regarded as definitive or published. Distributional, ecological, taxonomic, and other such data should be verified by specimen inspection by the user in consultation with AMNH curatorial staff.

9. By accessing the information in the databases, you agree that AMNH shall not be liable to you or any third party for any suit, loss, injury or claim caused by or related to your use, compilation, reliance on, or delivery of the information, and you agree to hold AMNH harmless from all such claims. In no event will the AMNH or the contributors of information to the databases be liable to you or any third party for any consequential, special, indirect, punitive or damages of any kind.

10. Data herein provided shall not be used to cause detriment to individuals or populations in the wild.

11. Internet access to some sensitive data contained in the database (e.g., locality data for threatened or endangered species) may be restricted. Access to these data may be requested in writing from a curator in the appropriate department.

12. Any opinions, findings, conclusions or recommendations expressed in the data do not necessarily reflect the view of the American Museum of Natural History.
